In contrast with Satan the Devil and the first human couple, Adam and Eve, Jesus never wanted to become independent of God. “The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he beholds the Father doing,” Jesus explained. “For whatever things that One does, these things the Son also does in like manner.”—John 5:19; 14:10; 17:8.Toby Fuquahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07685768945576578707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7306315475219866487.post-17799135368681117122011-06-05T06:53:37.783-04:002011-06-05T06:53:37.783-04:00Thank you for your post, Toby, and for your passio...Thank you for your post, Toby, and for your passion for God in your writing.

I posted a blog yesterday about a group of Muslims asking the same question, "Who is Jesus?", and I think it is the most important question a person can ask. Many things stuck out to me in your post. One of them is your description of Jesus as a "perfect man". I understand this is the theology of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I believe Jesus was fully man, but He was also fully God. Colossians 2:9 says the fulness of God dwells in Jesus. And in the Gospel of John, Jesus referred to Himself as "I am", the name only used of God Himself. So to use the C.S. Lewis reasoning, by saying that Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord. I choose the last of the three. Because only God can forgive sin, and that is what I believe Jesus accomplished by dying on the cross for me.

I'd love to hear more from you on this topic. Thanks again for your writing and leading this community. Keep it up!Darrenhttp://www.darrenbarkman.com/apps/blognoreply@blogger.com
